Fall Frosts

The beautiful summer yards and gardens

So bursting with every kind of flower and wonderful scent

Have all but gone now.

Trees raise bare cold arms to the sky: unprotected.

Only a few brave soldiers of beauty remain

To remind us of the sensual delights of spring and summer;

And to promise of their return.

Staunch Soldiers ...

Pansy's in their regal valiant coats,

Parading their champions colors for all to see!

That we may know,

Even in the midst of winter's snow,

That spring will be again:

As they pop their valiant heads from frozen earth,

Strewn with fallen leaves,

Frost and snow.

Friendly Faces -- Undaunted!
